As I said before H clausa is not a wild plant in the sense that you
will find a locality somewhere ( Chung could not find any) It is a
plant once found in the wild and now found in many gardens. Not
being really wild there are no insects that can fertilize the closed
flowers as it is a triploid and most triploids are largely sterile.
If I find that there is less than 5 % good pollen the chances of
getting any offspring seem remote. This figure of 5 % is
independend wether you measure that in the garden or on any
plant in the wild. Still the more people try the more chances there
are that one may succeed, but why use it instead of the var
normalis?Yes indeed any time you see that a cv is a hybrid with
clausa , it is most likely a hybrid with the var normalis.
By the way it is not suited for pot culture, as it soon will refuse to
flower.
