Potting up hosta.

Is it O.K. to pot up a dormant hosta at this time of year?
Our area is experiencing 40-50 degree days and 20-30 degree nights.
I wish to pot it up and water, than place it in my unheated garage.
Next spring I will bring inside and put under lights one month before normal
emergence.
Should this force hosta to bloom one month early?
I would appreciate any suggestions or remarks.
