I don't think trading will work very effectly because its like horse
trading, to time consuming. Everyone feeling like what they give is gold
and what they get is tin.

It might work if everyone posted a list of offerings, then a lottery such as.
Bring 1 plant get 1 ticket.
Draw by ticket number and the 1st ticket drawn gets 1st selection and so on.
Eliminates the grumbling, luck of the draw.

Just a starting point.
