Fertile or sterile?

Hi, all:
 
I am wondering if 'Holly's Velvet Piecrust' is a sterile pod parent?   I 
really haven't paid attention until this year when I used it and set no  pods.  Am 
I wasting my time?
 
General question: Can a hosta be a sterile pod parent but have fertile  
pollen?
