you will not get as much growth in this situation
unless you foliar feed because the water leaches out
the nutrients. i would reccomend compost tea and a
weak soluction of miracid type fert.
i floated 5 hosta in pots on top of my water return
for 3 years 24/7 365 in full sun and none burned at
all.
the problem is freeze/thaw mainly in the spring so the
crown needs to be covered with at least 2 inches of
compost and i would do 4.
i've found that pulmonaria (sp), ajuga, carex,
daylilies have done well in my bog.
