My echinatum goes semi-dormant for only a little while during the hottest
part of summer.  If kept cool, it never goes dormant for me.  Even if I
forget to water, dormancy is short in San Jose California.  We rarely get a
freeze here.  It should be just fine.  If in a greenhouse, may leaf out on
you.
