I buy tags, 10,000 at a time, from Fogg-It Nozzle Company in Belmont California for my nursery I use a .5mm lead pencil. I have been told that the tags last for a long time, although they do get brittle eventually. I believe that you can buy Fogg-It Labels in regular nurseries, at least in Northern California. Tucking the tag down well into the container also helps to preserve them from sunlight.

Hi, Joe,   I agree re the brittle tags.  I think I have found a source that are flexible, and will let you know after I have used them if they also become brittle.    I find that even in the greenhouse, the permanent markers fade after a few years. Am now using pencil, though it can blur if rubbed. Maybe marker on one side, pencil on the other?
