Hello Cynthia,
The time span is about two to three months. I suggest you frequently renew
the water with fresh water. They are ready to transplant to the soil when
the roots have a length of several centimeters.
I do not know it is possible to use this technique with a lot of
pelargoniums, but you can do it with zonals. And with some kinds of bamboo
as well.
