The seed is ripe when the pod dries and splits open, however since
Stella d'Oro is a hybrid you won't get the exact same plant from seed.
It will probably look a lot like it but may not have it's growth or
bloom characteristics.  But it's always worth a try.  I enjoy starting
daylilies from seed, never know when you'll hit something
spectacular.
