Since the daylily season is winding down in most area's how about
hearing which were the best this season.
For me it was a close call for best this year, but I have to choose
Codyted. It's a pastel orange double with slightly darker eye. It was
flowering for nearly a month and every blossom opened double.
Second choice is Tuscawilla Dave Talbott. The catalog description says
it's almond colored with raisin eye and edge. I'm not sure I can
describe it better but it certainly looks much better than it sounds.
Other good performers:
Lullaby Baby always consistant, one of the first to start and it still
isn't finished. And it usually had 3-4 flowers open.
Hunter's Torch, I'm sure there are fancier reds out there but this is my
favorite. Just a good deep red with a slightly ruffled edge.
Radiant Ruffles, another won't quit daylily. Opens bunches of flowers
most days and sent up three new scapes when the first three were
blooming away. Pretty cream pink with a red eye, lovely ruffling and
a faint gold edge.
Different Drummer nicely ruffled dusty rose petals with peachy colored
sepals. Sounds odd but makes a nice combination.
Now I know the other 70 or so subscribers must have favorites so tell us
about them. I think every daylily fancier always has room for at least
a couple more.
