My friends who run daylily nurseries goes to Fla every spring, to the
Munsons, Stamiles, Salters, Kirchoff and Morse, etc, to check out what
is new, and to get great deals. Simply put daylily or daylilies in any
search engine like Yahoo or infoseek, and you're on your way.
This year I bought all the remaining candies I needed. I wanted
Blueberry Candy BADLY last year, finally located a double fan of it.
Also got Orchid, Elegant and Exotic. All the candies I bought last year
like Dewberry, Raspberry and Custard bloomed and bloomed, and every one
grew additional fans. All were remarkably fertile. I planted over 3,000
seeds in November, now, mid March, some are tet mini monsters eight
inches or more. I am positive that they will bloom
this summer. Last years seedlings will of course bloom this year. I have
a row of evergreen purple and maroon seedlings, they must be, for they
grew all Winter. I have 2 rows of Paper Butterfly seedlings that I have
great hopes for. I crossed P B with things like Admirals braid and
Pirates patch, as well as the candies. All these seedlings went dormant
at the onset of cold weather.
As you can see, I like the eyed tet daylilies the best. My friends
and I went in together 2 years ago and bought Creative Edge for 200
dollars. We each paid 50 and waited for it to divide. I got a small fan
last spring, and it is really big now so I expect it to bloom this year,
can't wait to use it in my hybridizing.
I recommend Always Afternoon highly. I purchased one fan of this
lovely Lavender purple eyed beauty in the spring last year. It bloomed,
it rebloomed, and gave me another fan. It was very fertile,
setting pods no problem. I will use it this year, along with Tet Siloam
Gumdrop, and Tet Va Henson. As my seedlings bloom this spring I will
report any beauties.
       Cheers, Karl
