Well...Hi there Chuck......I guess we BOTH make our condo's our
'gardens';-) During the Summer time most of my plants go out on my deck (
*NOT* the A. Violets tho!!)
My plants go crazy out there...and everytime I bring them back inside in
the Fall.....FRIST I spay them with a spray to make sure they don't bring
*ANY* bugs in the house.....I spray them...AND the soil at the plants
'feet'. Each Fall...they seem to get bigger and biger and heavier and
heavier...WHEW!! :-P Well for THIS fall when I brought them in...I
thought I was going to get a hernia!!! ;-> Now most of them stay in my
livingroom thru out the winter.....I have a yucca plant...actually I
*SHOULD* say TREE!!! And I have VERY high ceilings but getting inside from
the deck was a real back breaker!! I myself am 6 feet tall and the Yucca is
about 9 feet tall. I had to bring it in sideways to fit thru the deck's
sliding glass door!!!....THAT was a job 'n a half!!!

I think a good way to take care of flowering houseplants (mainly A.
V.'s) is to *NOT* over water them. How I tell when to water is by picking
up the plant and see if it feels
light in weight......if it feels light THEN water it and after put the pots
on a paper towel til it has soaked-up and excess........I also find that
letting them dry out between waterings sets buds on the plant.
Sincerely yours,Anne,Sasha and Tex(the bare wonder)
