Thanks to everyone who wrote to give help on eradicating Scale insects. 
We are going to try one of the light cooking oil sprays in the absence
of horticultural oil, don't think they are available in the UK.  

        Please forgive the lack of individual messages, but I am trying
to prepare my Husband's accounts, and I don't have much computer time until
they are finished - sigh...why do I always leave everything until the last
minute?  There is always something better to do, like admire my cacti
flowers, or clean off mealy bug;  now I'm paying for it!!
