I have some lily of the valley growing wild behind my house. It only blooms
once in the spring, then spends the rest of the summer spreading. A lot of
people consider it a weed because it can be invasive. It may be difficult
to keep in a container because of its spreading nature. The leaves seemed to
die back like tulip leaves, and completely disappear for the summer. So if
it appears to die, perhaps you should let it be dormant until it comes back.
I bought this plant once, and it had sprouted in the packaging, so I'm not
suprised that Helga's bloomed quickly. The flowers are very fragrant, and
many people love to bring in big bunches of them (for me they have to be an
outdoor plant like lilac and hyacinth).
