Hi Nancy S.,
Another reason that indoor gardening was more popular than outdoor in
Victorian times is that it was not considered lady like and although you see
all of these women in the movies with their big hats and flower baskets
cutting flowers, it was usually done by an undermaid (a girl about the age of
12) The less fortunate, or everyday people had gardens & flowers outdoors but
they were usually tended by the children. Sharon
