Baking Soda?

Happy Holidays!

It has been a long time since I have last posted as I have been up to my
elbows in sudsy water still fighting mealy bug. I have gotten rid of the worst
infected plants but am still trying to save some of my favorites by taking
clippings or spraying with a combination of rubbing alcohol and water or
Murphy's Oil Soap and water.

Anyway, I was talking to my grandmother about my mealy bug problem at
Christmas and her advice was to sprinkle baking soda on top of the dirt. Has
anyone else ever heard or this or tried it? Does it work?
