RE: orchids and other houseplants

Donna,

Please, leave the earthworms in the soil. They are great for the plants and
soil, but you'll want to make sure you use an organic fertilizer so you
don't kill them. Compost tea or manure teas are easy to make and use and
don't collect in the soil like salt based fertilizers. And, if you are
going to try outdoor gardening, i suggest you get used to the worms.

Did you know that earth worms carry and transfer no diseases and that they
are really important to soil ecology. Besides that, if you create a worm
box and put your kitchen scraps in the box for the worms to eat, you will
treat yourself to some very inexpensive, very nutritious (for your plants),
organic fertilizer and potting medium

Just some things to think about.
