Re: Growing X-mas cactus


Barbara, some of my Christmas cacti are over ten years old.  I think they
are easy to grow.  It might not be wise to water them every day, since they
are easily overwatered.  I tried growing some in leca stones, and the roots
rotted.  Most things grow well in leca for me - Avs, Hibiscus, Sansaverias,
Schefflera etc. but not C. Cactus or Daphne.  In order not to give the C.
Cacti  too much water in regular planting mix, you might try using  a water
measuring device, and water them only when they are dry.

Steve, wont you please share your expertise on lighting with all of us?
