plants for dark places (was rubber plant question)

hello dale and plant-lovers,

the plant that i believe holds the record for lowest light needs is
probably the common devil's ivy or pothos (Scindapsus or Epipremnum),
there is a dark corner in my kitchen where there is absolutely no light
at all and a large basket of pothos thrives there. i know you are
looking for a tall plant, but you can grow pothos on a totem instead of
letting it hang down.

i think often we mistake plants that tolerate low-light for a "low light"
plant. i think rubber plants (Ficus elastica), fig plants (other Ficus)
and snake plants (Sansevieras) can tolerate low light levels but probably
don't thrive unless in good light. rubber and figs can grow in full
sunlight and sansevieras are desert plants, i believe.

good luck with your plants.
