Re: Fragrant indoor plants

dear ranjit,

let's see, my fragrant plants include Tabernaemontana divaricata, "fleur
d'amour" from india, kind of like a small gardenia. i'm not sure which
seasons it blooms but mine is in bloom right now.

Epiphyllum oxypetalum, "night-blooming cereus", is easy to grow and
bloom, mine blooms every summer, except that the flowers only last one
night.

Neomarica gracilis, "walking iris", blooms in the winter and it is
fragrant but the flowers only last one day.

there are also several jasmines that you could try. one year, i also
forced hyacinths in my fridge and the fragrance just filled my apt. it
was delicious.

also, a friend of mine has recommended the "sweet olive", Osmanthum, as a
good fragrant plant that will grow in fairly low-light.

my most fragrant orchid is Angraecum 'Longiscott', a hybrid, it bloomed
last september and the fragrance permeated my entire living room.

just a few plants i could remember of the top of my head.
