Good Morning Everyone,
I'm not sure if anyone out there has been plagued with this problem: I have
dozens of little flies hovering all over my plants. They are very small
(maybe 1/8 of an inch long) and look a lot like the flies that gather around
ripe fruit. I looked in many plant books, and did not see anything about
this pest (they are not aphids, not mealybugs, not red spider mites).
They do not seem to hurt my plants, but I do not know for sure, and since
they are always flying around, it's difficult to zap them with insecticidal
soap spray. I keep a lot of my plants on humidity trays to offset the
indoor heating. Could the extra humidity be what's attracting them? If so,
how can I get to the happy medium of enough humidity for the orchids,
african violets, etc, while getting rid of my uninvited guests?
Thanks,
Donna
