Cutting the ends off the leaves helps, as I said. If all else fails I open
up a paper clip, bend it to make a staple and pin the plant into the soil.

No, I make my own. 3 parts Canadian peat moss, one part perlite, one part
vermiculite, one part sterilized (I hope) top soil (not potting soil which
already contains perlite etc.). I add any crushed eggshells I have on hand
and if none are available, some lime (I don't measure so amount varies.)
