  Dear Julia & others,
Lucky you! I would gently remove the CP (carnivorous plant) from the
pot, cut off the growth, including roots if it has any, dip the end in hormone
rooting powder, then plant the baby in a small pot with a mixture of peat,
sand (equal parts) and maybe a top dressing of long-fibred spaghnum moss.
Water with distilled but rainwater works best as these plants come from acid
bogs. Keep humidity high and you should get a new plant. You can also root
Venus flytraps by cutting the stem in pieces & laying the pieces on top of the
same mix with humidity. I've never tried it but maybe this summer. And if
you haven't already found the CP Discussion Group, let me know & I can get the
url for you from a fellow cp-er. Sincerely, Judy Showers
