Jennifer asked about low light plants. An excellent guide to selecting
houseplants is available from the Nebraska Extension at:
http://www.ianr.unl.edu/pubs/Horticulture/g837.htm
It has a good explanation of light intensities and a table of houseplants
that with water, humidity, light, temperature, and soil requirements.
You can usually get away with moving most plants with technically higher
light requirements into a low light environment for a few months at a time
without doing them too much harm. Just remember to cut way back on water
and fertilizer and to rotate them back out to a brighter spot after a few
months.
Cheers!
