Batya,
I've seen jades bloom at other times of the year as well. I always thought
it was only older jades that bloomed though. I also think it is the older
jades that have such thick trunks.
In Sunset magazine one time they did an article on making a "bonsai" forest
of jad trees. It looked really fun and very creative. I'll have to dig that
out.
Something I like a lot about jades is how easy it is to start plantlets
from broken off leaves. I just leave them where they fall in the pot and
over half of them sprout. Sometimes it takes months for them to do it, but
i don't give up on a leaf until its shriveled and brown.
