Greetings from Geneva/Switzerland,
My name is Per-Anders and have been on this list since the beginning of
June.
I grow mostly mediterranean plants as we have quite a nice micro-climate in
the area of Geneva where I live. They are kept outside all year long, we
are lucky to have a large terrace full south. Inside we do only have a few
plants, as most of the time for an unknown reason they just die (too hot &
dry & sunny ??), which was not the case in previous apartments.
I got the growing bug on a trip to the Seychelles in 1980. To see all these
plants we buy expensively, just grow like that all around the island was a
surprise. You'd find Diffenbachias, orchids, bougainvilleas, local banana
trees etc, it was incredible.
The plants I grow today are cacti (something between 50 and 100), olive
trees, rosemary, oleander, yucca elephantipes (yes outside all year long,
manages temperature as low as -7C/19.4F), strelitzia, lemon trees, various
succulents, orchids (inside), pelargoniums, lavender, coffee etc.. Of
course my wife shares my interest.
Happy gardening !
Per-Anders
