I think it would be better to program achimenes grown from rhizomes. Let
the seedlings grow and bloom when they want to. They will tell you when
they want to go dormant by the lower leaves turning yellow and the whole
plant getting a somewhat ragged look. Then stop watering and let the tops
get crisp before cutting them off. If you remove the tops while some of it
is still green the rhizomes will not be as big. If you force the seedlings
into dormancy you may not get any rhizomes.
