What a great idea, a bored jade plant. I guess it got jaded. Too much for
hot humid New York.
But my favorite jade story: when my son was going through his terrible twos
(about 30 years ago), he pulled off every leaf from my jade plant. I could
have easilly resorted to infanticide (right word?). But I didn't. Lo and
behold: out of every leaf node came a new branch and it was lovely. Draw
your own life lesson.
More to the point. Mine also drop lots of leaves in the summer. I don't
give too much water and muddle through. Sometimes a new plantlet grows from
the fallen leaf. That's how I got mine from a fri;end. Her jades are all
over Riverdale where we live.
I have had mine outside in the shade. This year I didn''t bother. They are
pretty hardy. We saw one in Vermont which was 30 years old: magnificent.
