Hi Julia, I've grown a hibiscus inside for about 4 or 5 years. It used to
grow in a greenhouse and would flower year round, but now it spends the
summers outside and flowers a lot, and during the cold season it sits
either in front of a patio door or in a bay window, both facing pretty
much west. Then it flowers on and off. It produces big cream colored
blooms with maroon deep inside.
Gerry, maybe the sun in California is stronger than in Tennesee?
Julia, when I grow tomatoes, I don't use any pesticides on them at all,
and I've never noticed any iridescent quality to the skin. I would guess
it could be something about the variety. I grow Sweet Millions and some
big variety (this year) but in past seasons I've grown yellow pear, Tiny
Tim, Celebrity, and lots of others. Never noticed iridescence. Maybe
because I was too busy cleaning and chomping them? How much were the
tomatoes per pound?
I just came back from a 2 day Bat mitzvah celebration (Jewish coming of
age for a 12 yo girl) and I don't think I'll be able to eat food for a few
days I'm so stuffed! All we did all weekend was EAT! Who can recommend a
good diet for me? A very LARGE woodchuck has begun eating my yard, and
is ignoring my broccoli baited hav-a-hart trap. Tried cabbage first. He
prefers lupines and columbine, etc. He peeks out from under my
neighbor's shed, mocking me. Any suggestions? I don't have a gun.
