Without a doubt, your plant is in the Bryophyllum family.
I've two plants in that group: One is B tubiflorum (Chandelier Plant)
and has a series of tubular leaves encirclling the stem, and at the tip of
each fleshy leaf a small group of plantless appear. The leaves or a spotted
brown and each spring it bears bell-shaped orange flowers.
This plant is also called "Hollywood Palm" by some greenhoues and is from
the island of Madagascar.
The other, B daigremontianum (Devil's Backbone), is an erect, upbranched
2-3 plant with triangular leaves. The leaves are held stiffly at an angle to
the stem
with the serrated edges curled inwards. At these eduges tiny planlets
develop. Mine last bloomed in late summer and bore pale while flowers on
tall spikes.
Perhaps, U can bring up pictures of both plants on an Internet web site.
