After a history of many of the usual house plants I have begun and am
eagerly branching out into a collection of all kinds of begonias. I very
much enjoy my beefsteak and the rex begonias and have discovered a
catalogue of all kinds of shrub, cane/angel wing and many other kinds. An
order is on its way for those listed as "easy" and I'm hunting for a large
used aquarium to use as a greenhouse to branch into the begonias even more.
I want some that are Bonzai subjects and some of the African ones.
I also start seeds inside to lengthen our short growing season here in the
Pacific Northwest Marine influence region. Today I planted birdsnest gourd
seeds which will climb the front porch this summer, dry all winter and, I
hope, be fun progects in a year or so.
The plants that are healthiest in my home are the ones that do well
with"benign neglect" like the jade, the begonias, hoya and orchid cactus.
I keep letting the oxalis and prayer plants and palms get too dry. I may
give them away and use all the room for those hugh cane begonias. I look
foreward to discussing gardening indoors with all of you.
mary - remember the egg was a viable method of reproduction before the
chicken begame a species
