[INDOOR-GARDENING:236] Re: Mealy bug alert

Dear Baytal,

Enjoyed your post! Yes, "all those marvelous things you talk about are
happening in Kansas also!" Such a neat re-awaking! I guess we could call it
the Annual Vernal Equinox Renaissance!

We did two new large perennial beds this past summer and they are so exciting
to look at now. Hundreds of crocus, daffodils and tulips are "pushing" up.
The crocus are in full bloom! Iris and day lilies are up also.

Really a marvelous and exciting time for all of us! We have some 50 to 100
orchids spiking and in radiant bloom as are many of our gesneriads and
begonias. Fun! We built and planted a German-Austrian Dwarf Garden two years
ago, featuring all dwarf and diminutive plants -- yews, hollies, Japanese
maples, hostas, small members of the evergreen family as well as ground
covers. All dwarf. And, they're showing new growth already. I'm sure
they're doing so well due to the four dwarf sculptures who stand on nearby
columns and "watch!"

Our African violets have really "enjoyed" the past month or so and are in full
bloom! We have a new collection of species and they have been great to see
reaching maturity and blooming. In the past, we have not done much with the
species and now I think we will do more as they are so interesting and
different one from the other.

Our smithianthas have not stopped blooming all winter. They're supposed to go
dormant. I guess we shall see.

Warm Regards,

Jim McKinney,
McKinney's Glassehouse
