Gabi,
I don't know the exact answer to your question, but I also had a
dieffenbachia and it bloomed.  My boyfriend and I ended up giving it away,
because it had a very unpleasant odor that filled our entire apartment.  It
seemed to be in rather good health, we just couldn't take the scent.
I hope that helps in your decision to let it bloom or not.
