For Liz: the recipe I heard here on this list seems to work: 1 part each,
alcohol, ammonia and H20. Mix and spray all over the troubled plants.
Just make sure you have a lot of ventilation! You should probably do this
every 10 days or so for a while to totally get rid of them.

As far as using only lower case letters because it's "the thing to do," I
say HA! I can think of a bunch of other things that some people have done
because it was the thing, and there are lots of people who are addicted to
various substances, people with diseases, and a lot of ill mannered,
ignorant people running around. Please keep using upper case letters and
use the knowledge that you worked so hard to attain when you were getting
your education!

Hi, Park! Welcome to the list, and to all the other new subscribers!

Concerning Streptocarparella, I know this is very late, but I've been so
BUSY...I was told by people at the NY Flower Show 2 years ago that this is
what I have. It is different than Streptocarpus. Streptocarpus has
straplike leaves, with sort of creases in their leaves, along with hairs
all over. Streptocarparella has much smaller leaves, about a maximum of
2" long, that are smooth, with the hairs all over. They grow on long,
drooping stems that I have to occasionally snip back because they get so
long that everybody bumps into them and knocks off all the leaves. The
stems I cut off just get stuck back into the pot and they grow. From each
node grows a little stem and you get a purplish flower, that looks like a
mini streptocarpus flower.

If anybody is thinking about growing tansy to repel ants, beware. It is
VERY invasive!!! (I tried it). I tried growing it around the foundation of
my house to repel carpenter ants. It didn't work, and then I was stuck
with these annoying plant coming up all over the place!!

I hope that all your plants are doing well, in and out. Has anybody else
noticed that the Kwanzaan Cherry trees are blooming in a weird way? When
they open, the petals are all creased, and they never get all the way open.
I also noticed that this year, several outside plants that have always
survived the winter, seemed to have expired this time. Hmmm. Lauren
