Hi, enjoy the scent. When we had the greenhouse I bought a bunch of the
bulbs and grew them. I only smelled them if I stuck my nose right into
the blooms, and even there, there wasn't much scent. I attributed it to
maybe the variety. I seem to recall that they kind of slowed down and went
dormant a good while after they had finished blooming, and then I reawoke
them some time in the winter. (I could be wrong). I think I got them
to rebloom 2x, but there was less bloom each time, and then we sold that
house, and I gave a lot of stuff away. The ones I had were from a mixed
color selection, at least that was what they said. All the blooms were
red with yellow borders, and I thought they were kind of garish, to tell
you the truth. I have a pretty sensitive sniffer, and this isn't the
first thing that I've been told was blessed with a wonderful aroma, only
to be disappointed. Ex...Keys of Jupiter (something rubra), fothergilla
(supposed to smell like honey? No way!); certain varieties of
roses....Well, you enjoy your SWEET smelling freesias! I'm gonna sniff
the last gardenia flower on my plant! Now THERE's something that I can
sink my nose into! Sniffing in New City NY, Lauren B.
