White spots on leaves

I had an oncidium next to glass in the greenhouse and a grapefruit tree near
it.  Both have spots on the leaves where all the color has gone out.  Is this
burning?  Or something else.  Can someone help.  So far it does not look
fatal to the leaf though it is unsightly.  Batya Levin, Bronx, NY
