Poinsettias make great background shrubs in your annual flower bed. Cut
them back about halfway when they finish flowering and set them out when
there's no danger of frost.
Getting them to reflower is a different matter and a real pain. They need
about six weeks of short days, less than 12 hours of sunlight, starting
about September. I managed to get one red leaf the time I tried it. With the
low price of plants a Christmas I thought it not worth the hassle.
