I have noticed that only the plants that I have to keep moist have gnats.
I only water my ficus about once every two weeks (it's in a pretty large
pot) and I haven't seen any gnats in it. I don't have a lot of fungus
gnats, and they don't do any harm, so I've learned to ignore them (not
easy!).

Well, infected is a pretty strong term, but yes, they'll probably move into
your other plants.
