Whiteflies: not scale NOR moths.

> Contrary to what was posted previously, whiteflies do not turn into scale.
> They are two different beasties.

True, but read on (with caution).

> The whiteflies are tiny white moths

Not true. Whiteflies are in the same order as aphids and scale and
mealybug. This is the order Homoptera. So, whiteflies are whiteflies.
The immature stages are scale-LIKE, in that they are seemingly cemented
on. Much smaller than most of the scale which we see on houseplants.

Also, I wish that when people recommend something like WD-40, they
would explain how they apply it, so that people do not wind up pouring a
can of motor oil or 3-in-1 oil over their plants.

Sincerely,

PS: On another topic, I didn't think that Pat Addison's reply about
someone's assertion that all AVs and therefore all AV clubs' plants are
rife with thrips was "nasty".
