leaf cleaning

Greetings!

Re: recent posts asking about various products for cleaning leaves, I
don't use them -- period!

Certain sprays, wipes, polishes, etc., can damage leaves. Besides, they
cost money you could spend on plants or lights and supplies you really
want or need. I have a tight budget; anything I can do myself I do.

I simply use a damp, soft cloth to wipe leaves of my plants. Washing
some with lukewarm water that's not loaded with chemicals also helps,
and provides additional humidity for those plants needing it. For
saintpaulias and other fuzzy-leaved critters, brushing with a soft brush
works fine (for me, anyway).

Too many growers think they have to rely on every "leaf shine" product
on the market. It's not so. Save yourself time, work and cash. After
all, grandma didn't possess all this stuff and yet she grew wonderful
houseplants.

You don't need fancy gloves, watering cans, pots, etc., either unless
you're a plant yuppie.
