Hi Molly,
I saw that Martha Stewart episode as well, and it was even more exciting
because I had made my first terrarium about 6 weeks earlier, and got so many
compliments on it that I then made a few more for my sister-in-law, daughter
and mom.
I happened to have a large glass flower bowl at home for mine, but bought a
round bowl from Lechters (household goods) for $8, and used a clear glass
saucer as a cover.
Don't forget to use pebbles on the bottom, and some charcoal chips to
prevent the soil from getting stagnant.
I also found that the terrarium works great as a propagator - you can root
plants in it very easily, and then re-pot separately afterwards. (Great for
African Violet leaves).
Enjoy.
