Greetings all......
Hope you're as chilled as I am! (Don't like to mope alone).
Everything's now inside, snug as a bug in a rug as some folks say. But I
have an interesting problem: my Christmas cactus are all in bud.
I always leave the cactus outdoors until the night of the first freeze
(in this case it was last night). This really helps with bud set. This
time, the number of buds on each of my 7 plants is incredible. However,
I'm afraid most will be bloomed-out by Thanksgiving, certainly by
Christmas. Is there any method of slowing bud development without nixing
them all? I'm impatient to enjoy what should be a wonderful floral
display, but I surely would like some blooms through the holiday season.
I now have them growing in a well-lighted, slighly cool location in
hopes that this might slow flowering a bit.
Another question: Can anyone recommend supplier(s) for ivy (hedera)? I
use them for topiaries (many of which I sell). I've using local
greenhouse growers, but their selections are limited. I'm searching for
a grower(s) who have a wide selection and, preferably, sell wholesale
(the local growers sell wholesale to me).
I buy topiary wire, including figures, from local greenhouses, too, but
want to find suppliers with a much wider selection. Any suggestions?
As in the past, thanks for your help.
Have a great indoor gardening season!
