Hi all:
Does anyone grow Malpighia coccigera? I have had one for about 3 years,
grown from a cutting. Twice in that time it has suddenly 'died'. The
leaves turn grey but do not fall. If I wasn't such a procrastinator I would
have thrown it out but suddenly after a few weeks it sends out new shoots
from the old wood, this time from near the base. If I cut off the top which
appears to be really dead it will spoil the look of its bonsai-like shape so
am trying to decide whether or not to start a new one.
Have checked the Net bonsai sites but found nothing about its seemingly
dormant period. Is it natural or did I do something wrong? I'd hate to
lose it.
Thanks in advance for any help.
