Hello everyone,
I introduced myself to the list sometime early July. I have been
learning much from your posts all along. I also remember receiving a
nice welcome letter.
Well my dilemma is that I have a beautiful Anthurium andreanum
about 1½ feet tall and again as wide. I bought it a the local grocery
store about 5 years ago with one bloom. I have never repotted it. It
has never bloomed until this August. It now has 6 flowers and more buds
showing. the foliage is heathy looking. But it is SO pot bound & there
is roots everywhere including outside the pot. I don't find any
reference as to what type of growing medium it needs. I can't find any
signs of soil in the pot, it's all roots!!!!! I know spring is the
recommended time to repot but would hate to see it decline from the lack
of proper care. I drench the 6" pot it is now in every day for the fear
it will dry up & die. I also mist it frequently. Also it is very top
heavy. Any feedback on growing mediums would be greatly appreciated
from anyone. I have another plant question but will post it separately.
Sorry this post is so long.
