Hi,
I've been lurking here for about 6 weeks and finally am sending my post.
I've been an enthusiastic gardener for about the last 10 years or so. When
I moved into an apartment my gardening was considerably reduced. I have
recently returned to school and so all my gardening at present is in 5
pots and about 8 little peat pots. In 3 of my pots are Amarylis, some
mothers, some babies. I've had the mothers about 3-4 years. The babies
still look too small to bloom. In the other pots are bougainvillea. I've
never seen them for sale before and bought two when I discovered these.
Unfortunately they seem to have come with aphids. So I'm working on
getting rid of the aphids before my cuttings (geraniums and
streptocarpella(?)) get infested.
The reason I finally got around to writing is to ask about a problem my
daughter thinks she's having with a Norfolk Island pine she's growing in
her dorm room. It had been outside in the shade all summer and was really
growing nicely. Now she has it indoors and it isn't doing anything. I
don't know much about them so I assume it's resting. She thinks she should
pot it up, but I think the pot is not too small. I know I can go to the
library and look it up (I've been a librarian for the last 25 years), but
I thought someone might just know off the top of their head.
Whew! I feel like I've yacked on forever. I really enjoy this list and
have learned so much great stuff already.
