Hola Claire,
I got my plumeria like yours, just a long branch. How are you
attempting to root it? I got mine from the Plumeria People (if you don't
know about this place you're missing out on a lot!!). Anyhow this is how
they told me to root my cutting and it worked wonderfully!
Leave the callus, fill a pot 6-8" with perlite and place the cutting 3-4"
below the surface and water thoroughly. Put in a warm place out of direct
sun and protect from rainfall. Water when perlite is dry to the touch about
2" down (1-2 times a week). Do not over water. Leaves should begin to grow,
increase watering. When the cutting shows vigorous growth transplant into an
8-10" pot with good drainage. Stake temporarily and place in sade for two
weeks. Then gradually move into full sun a fertilize. *resist* the
temptation to lift the cutting out of the pot.
I couldn't help my self and I did but there were no adverse affects. Good luck.
