Diana
I have osteoarthritis, diagnosed when I was 30 years old and am now 53.
When it hit my hands I felt the same way. You have to remember that,
at the moment you are in a flare up and you must protect your hands.
Also, it is very important to keep the swelling down. The swelling
causes your body to send more calcium down to that area to protect it.
But the calcium causes the joint to fuse together. Causing more damage.
While your hands hurt, make sure you take your medication at all times
to keep the swelling down. I just used Advil. My hands, because I
followed the doctors instructions, are better today then when I was 30.
I'm still able to do alot of things. I'm not saying that they didn't
get a little out of shape. The knuckles and joints are larger. And
every once in a while I do get a flare up and just pull back on what I'm
doing. This doesn't mean the end of what you enjoy doing.... It just
means it's time for a rest! Also, I had to quit drinking coffee. Have
a wonderful day.... Vicki
