[miniaturerockgardens] Alonsoa 'Fireball'

From: Louise Parsons <parsont@peak.org>

Hummingbird plants a special focus for me since they have nested every
year in our yard for more than twenty-five years. I want to share with you
a nifty little plant for containers that the resident hummingbirds are
going absolutely bonkers for just now. It is a new alonsoa called
'Fireball'. It has small (about 1mm) bright and peppy orange flowers, tiny
leaves and attractive dark brown stems. It has a slightly trailing habit
and does well in rocks. It can be infinitely pinched if desired and will
bloom all summer....hardiness and species unknown, but I would guess that
it is somewhat tender. If so it is worthwhile as an annual if you like
real pizzazz colorwise.

It is always a special thrill to have the hummers visit my troughs. They
allow me a good close look. I have camera and tripod set up, lots of
patience and high hopes!

Cheers, Louise
