I have three dianthus Pike's Pink in 4" high, 12" diameter teracotta
pot, which flower their hearts out for 4 - 5 weeks every spring with
lovely ruffled pink flowers with darker pink fringes. It was one of
the first alpine-style pots I potted up & used Levington's Alpine
mixture. While the plants are growing happily after three years, I
wouldn't use the compost again.
In the summer and winter, the pot lives under the slatted wooden bench
in the sunny corner.
