Hi Diana,
     
Levington's is a brand name in compost over here in the UK, and they do all 
sorts from bulk peat/peat free to specialist stuff, including Orchid compost and
Alpine.  I wouldn't use it again as it comes in small bags and is at a premium 
price.  It seems to be a mix of fine grade soil, rough sand and very small 
pebbles. In my weather conditions, it seems to cake a bit like clay & the 
pebbles don't stay evenly distributed, so that in the summer, I have to break up
the surface, althoug it does seem to drain OK.  I used it before I had 
experimented with my own mixtures, & now buy large bags of general compost, 
pearlite & sharp sand and make up my own mixtures, sometimes adding gravel from 
the paths if necessary.  I use the same constituents for rooting cuttings and 
for seed trays so its more economical and flexible, and I feel like more of an 
old hand as I mix up my 'specials' for the different uses.
     
By the way, I've also been smitten by lewisia 'White Splendour' and sisyrinchium
idahoense album, and a pale blue sisyrinchium, for a spiky, tufted look in 
narrow deep pots.
     
And lastly, I have finally managed to outwitt the slugs and have a miniature 
hosta in flower with tall thin flower stalks, blue scented flowers, planted in 
an old teapot.   Happiness is.....
